About:

“Her music dips and weaves in light and dark tones, offering folk stylings with a pop edge. Innessa is a great example of a truly unique musician residing right here on our Sunshine Coast.”

The Point Sunshine Coast

***

Establishing herself on the Australian festival scene, Sunshine Coast songstress, Innessa, has found her niche infusing alternative folk with Eastern-European influences.

Publishing her first poem in her native Russian at 12 years old, Innessa's way with words has more recently earned her a finalist spot in the 2024, 2023 and 2017 Queensland Music Awards, seen her release four studio albums, and perform at some of Australia's biggest folk festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Canberra Folk Festival, and venues in Russia.

Innessa’s musical adventure started with a passion for writing poetry at the tender age of 8.

At age 9, Innessa was invited to join the local choir and began her lifelong passion for music and performing. After several years of expanding her vocal talents, Innessa was introduced to the guitar and by the age of 16 she had combined her poetry, singing and guitar skills and started performing her original compositions.

The day she finished University, she packed her guitar and set off to explore the world. She has spent time living, studying music and performing on the Black Sea, Moscow, Egypt, Spain, The USA and has now happily settled in Australia.

Media and Testimonials

“A mesmerising infusion of alternative folk and Eastern European influences, Innessa’s new single Golden Wreath, combines powerful messages of hope and unity with transformative music to create an otherworldly sonic experience.

Featuring spellbinding vocal melodies reminiscent of those found on the softer end of symphonic metal bands like Nightwish and Sirenia, Golden Wreath is an immersive wonder wall of sound that gives nod to Innessa’s Russian roots and ties to the Western world.”

Music Is My Muse

“Innessa’s vocal qualities and song-writing would put her in the same category as the quirky female-songwriter with a distinct voice – think the likes of Bjork, Sia, Kate Miller-Heidke, Tori Amos, Kimbra etc….”

The Point, Sunshine Coast

"INNESSA's music does not lack charm... opening up many horizons. With “Golden Wreath”, the Russian-born singer-songwriter shares a rather unique universe that is both Slavic and Celtic, Pop and acoustic…

Self-financed and very well produced, the artist has taken particular care with the arrangements which remain sober and refined, but not without a lot of richness, such as the violin interventions in particular. With a beautiful naivety on "Beneath The Azure Skies", INNESSA also takes us into Celtic atmospheres ("Shallop"), with an enchanting flute..." (Review in French magazine Rock-n-Force)

RocknForce (in French)

“A wonderful, unique, emotional, unexpected, rewarding surprise for an Australian concert goer seeking to broaden their knowledge and experience of foreign, particularly the enigmatic East European, cultures!”
