Innessa is a Russian-born singer-songwriter living in Australia. Publishing her first poem in her native Russian at 12 years old, Innessa's way with words has more recently earned her a finalist spot in the 2024, 2023 and 2017 Queensland Music Awards, seen her release four studio albums, and perform at some of Australia's biggest folk festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Canberra Folk Festival.
The day she finished University, she packed her guitar and set off to explore the world. She has spent time living, studying music and performing on the Black Sea, Moscow, Egypt, Spain, The USA and in 2010 has happily settled in Australia.
How it started
Innessa has a long-time follower, and now a friend, who used to attend every one of her concerts. Sadly, due to health issues, he was no longer able to come.
A couple of years ago, he spent three months in aged care to receive the support he needed. It was during this time that Innessa performed her first concert for the residents of Mt. Gravatt TriCare. It was incredibly rewarding to see how deeply the music resonated with them.
They invited her back, and since then, Innessa has been regularly performing in various aged care facilities.
She remembers playing a small concert for the residents of Pine Lodge Home for Aged. After she finished and was packing up, one gentleman approached her and said:
"You have a very special voice. It sounds like... m-m-m... home. I don't know how to explain."
"Makes you feel cozy?" Innessa asked, laughing.
"Yes, your voice is cozy. That's right."
Innessa is now looking forward to bringing her heartfelt entertainment to your facility, sharing the joy and comfort that music can bring.
